Dear all

Please find below the re-issued circular CN09-10, on behalf of Paul King, regarding the recent
AM-Pro decision by the Boxing Council

IMMEDIATE IMPLEMENTATION
ABAE COUNCIL DECISION

1.   The ABAE recognise Am-Pro affiliated boxing clubs by way of an annual endorsement fee of £300 per calendar season.  This now allows amateur boxing clubs to open its doors to professional boxers at differing times during the operational day and would ensure further income from the professional code to the amateur boxing clubs directly.  There would be no insurance afforded from ABAE towards any professional activity. Insurance for professional activities taking place would be borne by the Professional organisers.

2.   Amateur-Professional Coaches can affiliate to the ABAE on a dual recognition basis for an annual affiliation payment of £75 per coach, to the ABAE, allowing them to participate in Amateur –Professional activities. Any current or future professional wishing to affiliate to the ABAE must be of a ABAE full coach standard (Level 2) or above.  Amateur-Professional dual affiliated members of the ABAE WILL NOT be insured under the ABAE Policy whilst working on professional activities. Insurance for professional activities taking place would be borne by the Professional organisers.

Keith Walters, ABAE Chairman, commented “This will offer ABAE Coaches and Clubs the opportunity to still retain those links with former Amateurs who have turned professional and for clubs to also benefit from long term relationships”

Robert Smith, British Boxing Board of Control General Secretary welcomed the change and stated “ The two codes of Boxing have for centuries fought against each other and the new drive and vision in both Amateur and Professional Boxing augurs well for the future”.
